This series is a fun and personal look into how people just like you walk out their Christian life. Facilitated by Pastor Joel Hilton, these colorful questions help us to capture the journey of Practical Christianity.

NAME: Rebecca Hilton

RebeccasmTELL US ABOUT YOURSELF:

Hello, my name is Child of the One True King (aka: Rebecca Hilton). I was born in the wonderful month of September (September 4th to be exact.  So, please remember that day!  Gifts are always welcome!).  I was born on Labor Day as my mother annually reminds me.  I was born in Tulsa, OK and raised in Millersburg, PA.

I love praise and worship music and love to worship God as a part of my daily energy source.  I love to find good, wholesome chick flicks and share the amazing findings with my friends and family.  I also enjoy going to Christian events like Christian Musician Summit and concerts to learn and grow.

My hobbies include kayaking with my father (even though we’ve only done it once), singing, and spending time with friends and family. My faith, friends and family have played and continue to  play a huge part in my life. I am a member of the Brave Music team as a singer and worship leader.

IF YOU COULD JOIN ANY PAST OR CURRENT MUSIC GROUP WHICH WOULD YOU WANT TO JOIN?

Other than Brave music… probably Planetshakers or something like that.

WHAT THREE THINGS DO YOU THINK OF THE MOST EACH DAY?

Work, Hmm and Hmm

BEING A CHILD OF THE 80S, IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WISH WOULD COME BACK INTO FASHION?

Ponytails that were placed on top of your head!!!  Oh, yes!  Please come back…please come back!!!

LIFE CAN GET BUSY AT TIMES. HOW HAVE YOU MADE TIME TO SPEND WITH GOD?

In the morning when I wake up I listen to His Word (Bible app). I also listen to Podcasts in the morning while getting ready for work. During my drive to work and sometimes on my way home I have a long praise and worship session.  At times I don’t play any music and just pray in tongues/intercede the whole drive (a good 45 minutes to an hour).  Depending on what time I get home from work, I read my Bible, which I keep open by my bed for easy access.  On the weekends I have a little more time to do all of the above.

YOU SPENT MANY YEARS ON THE MISSION FIELD. WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSED UPON YOU BY GOD DURING THAT TIME? OF ALL THE PLACES YOU HAVE TRAVELED, WHERE HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE?

His love and compassion for the peoples of the world. Each place I visited I got something different. My favorite place to travel was Venezuela.  I grew to love the people so much!

RELEASING YOUR VOICE CAN BE CHALLENGING. WHAT HAVE YOU HAD TO CONFRONT WHEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO RELEASE WHAT GOD HAS PLACED WITHIN YOU?

Insecurity, Anxiety/Fear

WORSHIP HAS ALWAYS BEEN A DEEP PASSION OF YOURS. TELL US WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO LEAD WORSHIP FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Very scary yet very fulfilling.  I love to be used by God and to see my obedience partnered with His faithfulness and in turn see lives changed…there’s nothing like it.  It is very addicting!  (This applies to releasing my voice too.)

IF THERE WAS ONE WORSHIP SONG FROM THE 80S THAT YOU COULD REVIVE AND BRING INTO THE 21ST CENTURY WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?

What happened in the 80s should stay in the 80s!

IF YOU WERE SPEAKING TO A CAPTIVE AUDIENCE WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

Above all things, put God first!  Then wait and see how He blows your mind by His goodness, faithfulness and love for you.

WOULD YOU RATHER GET FIRST DIBS OR THE LAST LAUGH?

Well, if it is pertaining to food, first dibs.  If it is pertaining to a comeback, the last laugh. 🙂

THANKS FOR GIVING US A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR LIFE AND HOW YOU DO PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY.

My pleasure…any time.
