Recently my husband and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary by taking a cruise through New England and Canada. While in Bar Harbor, Maine, we scheduled a whale watching excursion in hopes of being awed by these massive and impressive sea mammals.

Through all my years of travelling—through South America, Africa, Europe, and beyond—I have never in my life been so cold and so seasick! Having not thrown up since my son was born (30something years ago), my stomach met its match out on those waves. And after days of recovery, our best laid plans became something I look back on and choose to say, “Never again.”

As the saying goes, “hindsight is better than foresight”. Looking back on our lives, our decisions, and the effects of them, we can see the power of our positioning and the choices that we make, not only in natural terms, but spiritual as well.

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.”

About a month ago, the Lord woke me out of sleep with a strong and clear message regarding the healing of our land. With daily reports of attack, assault, and prejudice rearing its ugly head, it is clear that our land is in need of healing. As human beings were formed from the dust of the earth and return then to it again, we must cry out for redemption both for our people and for our very land.

My definition of “reformation” is: to rescue from error and return to its rightful course. God created mankind with a purpose (Eph. 1:4). Likewise, the land was created with intent, which was for the benefit of mankind. God commanded man to care for the land and the land was to partner with man by its fruitfulness. The earth was supplied with every resource for the benefit and enjoyment of mankind and mankind was given rule over it. The literal ground and every resource of creation was to PARTNER with us.

In Genesis 3, when man and woman sinned by eating of the one forbidden tree, the effects of their choice caused the ground to be cursed and therefore the land no longer partnered with mankind. We can see how when sin defiles our land, it will not partner with us for blessing and increase. Even today, where the land is violated and injustice and bloodshed are spilled upon it, the land cries out for redemption, to be returned to its purpose for the glory of God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.” God has redeemed us from the curse of sin through Jesus (Gal. 3:13); He has restored our rule over the land for its partnership to see God’s Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven. Our choice to walk with God, demonstrating Kingdom authority, will redeem the land that was cursed and defiled.

We have a commission and an authority to reclaim our land for the glory of God! We can shift the “DNA” of a culture—our community—by being instruments of justice in our land. We get to execute the judgement written against the sin upon the land, repent for the sins committed upon it, drive out the unjust, and restore righteous reign again.

A personal hero of mine, William Wallace once declared, “And I see a whole army of my countrymen, here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men. And free men you are! What will you do with freedom? Will you fight?”

My question to you is this: Will you use your freedom to fight for the redemption of your land?

Whether it is your personal property, your place of residence, your community, city, or workplace, you have been given authority to enact the freedom of your land; your land can be healed and partner with you again!

Prayer & Decree:

God, I repent for the sins of any person, present or prior, that took place upon this land. I renounce and break agreement with the sin and the curse that came as a result. I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus and have been given rule over the land. I declare and decree that as for me and my house (my land), we will serve the Lord. I speak to the land and every resource created for God’s sons and daughters that you will now partner with me, produce fruit, and bring glory to God. I bless this land and I call it to prosper, in Jesus Name. You are healed! You are whole! You are blessed!

I pray for your success as your land rises to partner with you again.
