THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
HOW DO WE GET THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT?
When you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, you receive God’s Spirit in you to empower and equip you to be transformed into the image of God, and to do the works that He did.
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV).
The expression or manifestation of the Holy Spirit will also become ours as we yield to His leading in our lives.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (HCSB).
The gifts of the Spirit are freely given by grace to equip the believer for the building up of the church, and to testify or witness of the Gospel—God’s Kingdom, and the salvation He offers us through the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 (NRSV).
“It shall come about after this that I shall pour out My Spirit on all mankind…” Joel 2:28 (AMP).
