PRAISE & WORSHIP
WHY DO WE WORSHIP GOD & GIVE HIM THANKS?
God does not need for us to worship Him, however, our worship, thanks, and praise to Him demonstrate the condition of our hearts, and our understanding of who He is, who we are, and what we have received through Him. “
A good man produces good out of the good storeroom of his heart. An evil man produces evil out of the evil storeroom, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.” Luke 6:45 (HCSB).
In other words, what we truly believe in our hearts is what we will say with our mouths and do with our actions. Our gratitude and worship, even in the midst of difficult circumstances, demonstrate our understanding of what we believe we have received, and what we believe to be truth.
“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, and offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship with reverence and awe…” Hebrews 12:28 (NASB).
It actually helps us as an act or step of faith to worship Him, give thanks to Him, and to praise Him, no matter what things seem like in the natural. We thank, praise, and worship God extravagantly, as we meditate on Who He is and what He has done. It keeps our thoughts and heart focused on Him, our only answer and salvation.
