THE CROSS

WHY DID JESUS NEED TO DIE ON A CROSS?

First and foremost, Jesus gave His life on the Cross—it was not taken from Him, and He was not even obligated to do so. He freely chose to give up His life for us. Christ became sin and sickness [the effects of sin] on the cross, providing both salvation and healing for all mankind.

This salvation that He has given us, (rescue or deliverance out of destruction and into safety), only comes by believing in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord! Why must we believe in order to receive the salvation Jesus paid for? Well, it was unbelief that caused Adam and Eve to disobey God in the beginning, resulting in the fall of man, and bringing sin and effects into the world. It is now through our belief in the finished work of God through His Son, Jesus, that causes us to receive righteousness from God.

Not only are we made righteous through Jesus’ life given up for us, but we are also made heirs—children of God!

As God’s children—as God’s heirs—we have been set free to live for Christ. We have been empowered to live just as He lived on this earth—free from the power of sin and death and destroying all the works of the enemy!
